The way we view our families alters as we grow from childhood to adulthood. We begin to lose this dreamlike nostalgia which was once filtering our adolescence and manipulates our memories into making us oblivious to what was right in front of us. It is important to let go of the idyllic, naïve idea of family and accept what we learn as we grow older. This project has forced me to get to know my family all over again from this adult perspective post leaving the nest. With this project I want to encourage discussion of mental health within families and push past the taboo of being open about our mental health, no matter the age.
