Rivulet
Rivulet explores how our understanding of family shifts as we move from childhood into adulthood. The dreamlike nostalgia that once shaped early memories begins to fade, revealing quieter complexities that may have gone unnoticed before.
Returning home after leaving for the first time prompted me to see my family from a new perspective. Small emotional undercurrents that once felt invisible began to surface, raising questions about the ways silence and mental health can move quietly through generations.
The project brings together contemporary portraits of my family with archival photographs of earlier generations of women, including my great grandmother and her daughters. Alongside these images are portraits of my older brother and photographs from recent trips we have taken together to the mountains, a landscape where we have found a sense of connection.
Through this combination of family photographs and landscape, Rivulet reflects on the emotional currents that run beneath family life, and on the histories that shape us even when they remain largely unspoken.
