Constructing Truth: Reclaiming the Gaze in Digital Intimacy is a multimedia project exploring self representation, digital intimacy and the construction of truth through my collaboration with Amelia, an ex OnlyFans sex worker who is now a feminist academic studying sex philosophy. Through webcam portraits, recorded conversations, glitched imagery and moving image, we investigate how women reclaim and negotiate their identities within online spaces historically shaped by external narratives and the male gaze.
The project combines silent nude FaceTime photoshoots with candid conversations about feminism, beauty, womanhood, sex work and female rage. By reversing roles as photographer and subject, I explore the blurred boundaries between looking and being looked at, questioning ideas of authorship, censorship and autonomy in digital self representation.
Working entirely through digital mediation marked a major shift in my practice, moving away from analogue photography into moving image, sound and collaboration. The fragmented visuals and glitches reference both online censorship and the unstable nature of truth itself, suggesting that identity is layered, constructed and constantly shifting. Rooted in friendship, vulnerability and feminist dialogue, the work reframes digital intimacy as a space for women to reclaim representation on their own terms.
